Our Castro halls have so many memories and soon to be passed to generation to generation. Some of us here in eight grade are going to be one of the first to go all through 6,7,and now 8 in Castro. Leaving Castro will mean to leave your past and move on to our future. Castro isn't always the best school but its the best community.

Karla and me have known each other for about 3 years now.We have been in each others class.We are now in the same class and now about to go to high school in a few months .We are good friends kinda like me and MaryJane.We all hang and we have fun together.We are all also in the same class.We do the stupidest things but not in class.The reason why is because Karla is really quiet.But when it comes to lunch WHOOOHOOO!!!!!!

Many of us students really like music i am really into music like one of my friends karen.r. she is realty into the type of music i like to listen to. We both like the same artists and the same songs!! we think that espinoza paz and noel torres are the best singers ever haha i really enjoy listening to their music its very cool and interesting sometimes well kinda its just something i like to listen too :].

Many students at castro middle school are BIG fans of soccer and soccer players starting with Relly Yarii Suzers aka suzy and mee hahahahaha we love soccer and soccer players i think it is nice that many students are involved in soccer and are very excited about soccer players. I think chicharito is a very good soccer player like memo ochoa and carlos vela i think soccer is awesome !!!

Football QB

This year is going to be a great because football for
Castro is coming about in two weeks and me, Alex is
going to try out for football as QB. But the other people
like Evan, and Keith are going try out for football for QB.
This is going to be difficult because all three of us are
perfect.But I hope I make it in football because that's my
dreams to be a football player.Other people are joining
to for other position.

because we are going to win football tournament .Is

So Yesterday Girls Soccer Team Won To Atkinson. The Score was 3-2. The Girls Were Working So Hard. They Looked Like They Gave Their All In this Game. I Just Hope That they Keep Giving Their All. Maybe they Will Make It To The Play-Offs And Become Champions. Sadly The Boys Lost To Atkinson 2-1. I Don't Really Know Why !!! Or How!!!! But they Have To Win The Next Game ! Sports at Castro

At Castro we have a lot of sports. We have volleyball, basketball, soccer, and baseball. In the game of 9/20/10 the girls won the volleyball game. People are saying that's the fist game they won, but the girls are saying that was the second game. The boys lost their fist game. That really isn't cool. All though the boys lost they still have a good team, and so d the girls.

There's alot of sports in Castro school right now. The girls soccer game won for the first time.The boys soccer game lost for the first time.But it's still good at least the boy's won the other games !!!!!! I really love being here at c a s t r o its so much fun but sometimes it could be really boring but i don't care at all . Everyone here respect the teachers and love the school campus . There are many things where you could join that's why CASTRO IS THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!

School Policy

The dress code for school is awesome but except when it comes to " sagging," Teachers trip on you if your pants/shorts are below the waist.But you shouldn't be with your pants all the way down right?so you better don't bring it to school okay.I mean like thats ugly we got to demonstrate our castro desent.

Castro School has a lot of cool sports right now. Girls soccer won for the first time and boys soccer lost for the first time! It's OK because we still have more games to go! GO CASTRO COUGARS!

There many sports like: soccer, volleyball, cross country, and Track. Sport are not just for the win but to represent your school. Hello students I think the food they serve is gross. The people in prison get served better food than us. The only thing anyone likes is the chips you have to buy.

What up people football coming around hope we make the playoffs this year and take it all the way you no what I mean. We didn't do good last year but this year its going to be better.

Besties are people that will be next to you forever. Also you can
rely on them whenever with whatever. making friends is super easy
you can just walk up to them and start talking. Here at castro everyone
is nice and will be there for you no matter what. We will all be there for
you. So make new friends they'll be there for you.

Sports At Castro Middle School!!

Volleyball, Cross Country, and Soccer are the only sports that we have at Castro at this moment. The volleyball team has already played 3 volleyball games. All three games were against Estrella. 1 to 2(1 lose and 2 wins). Hopefully the Castro Cougars volleyball team will do good this year and win many games. Go Castro cougars lose or win its always fun to play.

Most of the Students here at Castro try their best to get good grades. Although what they really need is a Teachers Support. I see teachers all the time giving their support to kids and teaching them. Telling them They can do it they just have to practice. Nothing is impossible to learn and that's why I respect the Teachers here at Castro for supporting our Students.

Everyone in school hates school but not everyone.
People comes to school to learn and appreciate

comes and not do work and also miss around just

My problem is that school is boring but I also
get my education.I try to do my work but is hard

If anyone gets a friend that does bad things well you
have to tell the teacher because is very imported because
we want to have the campus clean.Also when you see trash
please pick it up.Is to keep the campus clean cause everybody
wants everything clean.

While in school, we can't do exctally what we want, once we all get together we have a memorable time! We go to many places together & we don't care about anything. During our computer class we joke around, but still get our work done!(: No matter what we'll always be together!

The Castro announcements need help for the job you dont really have to be on the screen you can be behind the recorder and help to sign up you need to go to the office and ask the councilor and you can create announcements by getting a slip and its only for teachers.

Staying Active

Here at school, most people like to play sports. Sports are a healthy activity and are really fun to do. During lunch, many people play sports out in the fields.

However, in this hot weather, everyone needs to drink a lot of water. It gets really hot outside during the day. Playing in a sport is good exercise.

Some sports you can do outside during lunch or in the mornings are baseball, soccer, football,

volleyball, basketball, and other sports too.

Making friends at Castro is easy . Students are very nice and we get along. All kids hear at castro are very respectful. We have many activities we have cheerleaders,student goverment,socceand many more coming. Our school is cool we can wear about what ever we wan't. But this school is a good place to make friends.

Castro's Teams

On Wednesday Sep 15 the boys Soccer team lost their Game for the first time. And the girls Soccer Team won their game for the FIRST Time. Girls Volleyball won for the first time.

The boys lost 2-1 v.s. Estrella. Girls Won 5-4 Against Estrella and Girls Volleyball won the third half 15-9. As we see the girls improved and guys just went DOWN!!!! To the easiest team ever!!!!!

But all teams are gonna kick butt next time they play. All I have to say to the teams is . . . Not to give up. Because they act as if they can't win, but I know they can so yeah i guess just try hard.

Castro basketball is coming around very quickly and teachers are hoping we will have a better team this year. They went 0-8 (zero wins and eight loses) there are only a few great players but I think we will do better this year. Wins come by teamwork, hard work, determination, and skill.!

So far at castro I have seen many students playing sports. It seems that the life at our school revolves around sports. this is a good thing. this year we will have some good teams. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

P.E.

Yesterday we went outside and we took some video of the P.E. class playing baseball. I was with my partner and we got some grate shots of them. They had some great plays and they are all on video. Ms dustin is on the video making a great play the ball is hit to her and she makes the play. It was one of the grates plays that day and we got it. There were also some bloopers and they were pretty funny. That's what went down that day and we got it on video.

Castro students are proud to be in this school .Especially because of our beautiful campus . And the teachers are nice.

On Monday we took pictures and recorded.It was are first
time taking it but we did kind of good we listen to the
teacher of not talking.I enjoyed it because we recorded
mostly funny parts with are team.We also so coach Dustin
playing with her class baseball.

Yesterday we recorded me and my partners.We recorded the
funny parts and when coach Dustin was playing a game with
some kids in 2 period in P.E. They were enjoying the fun
in baseball.We took pictures and recorded in Mr.Ultech
class,enjoy because it was like free time.

Everyone loves the computer because we learn about how to
use the computer and other electronic device.I wish I can
stay for another year but I'm going to high school in 9th
grade.I hope when I go to high school and use computer
just like Mr.Ultech.

It's the beginning of the school year and people think it's boring. Well me and my buddy Rubi are having a blast. Even with all of our other friends. 8th grade is pretty good. I'm having so much fun. It's my third year here at Castro middle school. This is a picture of Rubi and I in photogournalism class. Till this day we are always laughing and enjoying our times together. Good friends are in my class it actually sucks because my friend Kassandra is not in there with us. We still see eachother .But i'll be better if she was in my class. I'll enjoy my life with friends and family. I'm going to make this year better than ever.

Back to school

It's August and you know what that means? Back to school! As school starts 6th graders start playing a game of how to get to know each other.

The game goes that you have to say a fact about yourself and pass the rope to someone who does that to. The game goes on until everyone has a piece of the rope.

After everyone gets a piece of the rope they have to stand and try to untangle themselves. After that everyone must realize what they can do together.

when you or some one else chose gum it makes a hassle you might think it does not you might think its a pees of gum it not going to kill someone sow you throw it on the ground . it stays there for months some times years until they higher someone to blast it or spend hundreds of dollars spent just by chewing gum sow think before you chew gum because these hundred dollars might effect your learning .

This is my second year being here at c a s t r o and so far I like this school . In 6th grade i went to E s t r e l l a and i did not like it at all. There were fights every day . But here c a s t r o there's not only once in a while . We love to have fun and we respect the teachers thats what i love bout this school ! Torrential Rains!

Torrential rains. Officials report torrential rains and landslides have left at least 44 dead, 56 injured and 16 missing. On Monday, President Alvaro Colom has declared three days of national mourning. Around 11,500 residents have been evacuated and 9,000 have taken refuge in shelters, the nation’s disaster agency said. Back to School

It's the time for back to school. All the kids are happy to see their friends. The teachers are all getting ready. In this picture there are kids doing an activity. The kids were taking turns say things about them. Once they said something they get a piece of yarn. Then the kids would past the yarn around.

Castro Teachers

Today is music Wednesday, a day we get to listen to music but also finish our work. Today's assessment is to write 3 paragraphs - beginning, middle, end. Your paragraphs can be 3-5 sentences long For a story idea, chose a photo that you took yesterday or Thursday to write about. Or choose a completely different story. Well I am going to write about a picture I took Thursday. This picture shows very much emotions between the teacher and the students.

Our teachers here in Castro are helpful and they help with politeness and like they really like to help with out complaining. Like this picture shows Mr.Uttech helping Jesus on how to manage the video camera right. Also if you notice, Mr.Uttech doesn't seem mad about it, actually he seems happy. Mr.Uttech also didn't know we took this picture. That means it's not a posed photo.

Castro teacher's are probably the coolest ones in the district. I believe I've chosen the best school for my education to be valued like I value it myself. If you are thinking of moving into a school where you will mostly be taken care of and be wanted some where well that place is here in Raul H.Castro Middle School. I can surely guaranty you that.

Back to School

Going back to school is a big step for a lot of us. Especially when you’re about to promote. Many take this serious while others don’t care about their future, education, or life. This is something that should matter to you A LOT! Education is a valuable thing that many didn’t have back in the slavery days, education is something that many people fought for. And what many people still want today.

Castro comes to an end.

In a little more than a month we will soon be promoting, and moving on to high school. We will be the first 8th graders to ever promote from Raul H. Castro. There will be a lot of conflicting emotions on our last day here. Some will be happy to move on, but others will be sad because they will miss their middle school friends and life. Most of the people here are both going to Trevor or Maryvale, and will not be with all of there friends.

FIVE MORE WEEKS TO PROMOTION

The Castro Cougars are very excited because there are only about five more weeks to promotion; the BIG STEP. Five more weeks so that they will become FRESHMEN! This is a big deal for all eighth graders; the day when Middle School is put behind them. Everything they ever did wrong in Middle School is gone and they can start all over again. PROMOTION is all these Cougar eighth graders are thinking of.

AIMS testing

Everyone I know thinks that AIMS is boring? Wouldn't you say the same thing? I mean think about it, you are sitting in one spot for three hours in dead silence. I know that it is to see if we are going to go to flunk. If we aren't it determines what classes we would have in high school. Does it have to be so boring? A good idea would be to do half in the morning and the other part after lunch. Instead of, tiring us out so early in the morning.
I know that in the first paragraph I was only talking about my feelings on the tests but now I will tell you about how most of my friends feel. "I hate these tests" is what Monique said everyday we had AIMS. Every student I know hated doing AIMS but the teachers were all excited. For example, Ms. Temple did the writing portion of it. It shocked me because most people hate doing AIMS when it is mandatory. Yet she goes and do it on her own free will.
Even though I say that testing was very boring there are some exciting things about it. To explain, when we are all done we get to have prizes and treats. Like on Friday I am going to have a pizza party. Then the eighth graders get to have a field day. That sounds so fun doesn’t it. So even though we have to work really hard it all pays off at the end.

Cougar News

What really happened at school was that we took the Aim’s test last week and
It was great. On Monday, we took the aims writing. On Tuesday, we took the aims
Math and reading part one. On Wednesday, we took the math and reading aims
Test part two. On Thursday, we took the math and reading aims test part three.
And on Friday, we took the aims science test part one and two. But we were
Done with the aims test and we need to be prepared for the Galileo test that is
60% of our final grade and we will be finished taking the Galileo and move on
To high school.

What also happened last week was that there was a fight at school during the
Aims week. Some students saw the fight but most of the students did not watch
The fight. After the aims science test part one and two; there was no free day
Or no activities to do because our teachers wanted to do free day until the week
After the aims test. But there is some good news. The good news is that we will
Have free day this Friday and we all heard it in math class. And we will have free
Day this Friday.

Everyone at school knows about the leadership conference because maybe I
Don’t know who will I interview to get information but I will try my best to
Interview and get enough information. But I don’t know who is going but I will
Learn more about interviewing and know who is going. And I may not know if
They get selected about the leadership conference and I will also learn more

The Leadership Conference

There will be a leadership conference held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 8 a.m until 2 p.m at Raul H. Castro. Cougar students will be able to go the conference and go take pictures, video and ask questions. They will be given the chance to enhance their skills as writers and also their social skills, which will definitely help them throughout their life. This is the best opportunity for the Castro Cougars to “grow.” Everyone is welcomed and we will expect a lot of you to come. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!!!

”The fight”

Sadly, last week we had a fight here at Castro. The two people fighting were Maria and Alida. Many people watching said different stories. Most are that Maria attacked Alida. I talked to many of the watchers. What stopped the fight were a few teachers. Mr. Dugan, Ms. Dustin, Ms. Dowling, and Mr. Piña were the teachers that helped stop the fight. Alida got 1 and ½ weeks suspension same with Maria.

Today, April 19, 2010, the Cougars play against the Blue knights at home. The Cougars have practiced very hard so that they will be able to beat the Blue knights. They are expecting to win and they have all the support from the Cougar members . They will win!

The past Galileo test didn’t go so well for math. So one of our 8th grade math teachers, Mr.Hernandez, decided to give the students a goal or challenge. He told the students that he would give $50 to the two students that improved the most and two students who got the highest score.

Talent Show

I just got back from the eight-grade talent show, and it was a blast. There was poetry, singing, guitar bass playing, comedy and rapping. Everyone was good but unfortunately only 3 people won. Crystal as first, Jordyn, Kevin, and Devante, as 2nd, and Michael as 3rd. Crystal sang a beautiful song, as Jordyn and the crew rapped with a little comedy in it, and Michael played an instrument like there was no tomorrow. I hope they feel proud of themselves. Now I heard everyone rehearse before they came and when Crystal found out that there was many people coming to watch she became beyond nervous, of course boys are not they like to show off, but Crystal is a nice loud person but she was scared. Some of us as the audience cheered her on as we sat and watched her performance. She felt comfortable after that and knowing she won first place. I give my support to others also who had the guts to go up there in front of hundreds and perform. Great Job everyone.

The “Castro’s Got Talent” talent show happened today and only a couple of students showed their talents. I was one of the few that did. Some sang, others played instruments, the cheerleaders did one of their routines, one group danced, and I said some of my own poems. Although they were all great only 3 talents got picked as the best. In 3rd it was Michael playing his saxophone, the song raiders march from Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark. In 2nd was the trio of Jordyn, Kevin, and Devonty, dancing and beat boxing to “pants on the ground”. Finally in first place was Crystal singing a beautiful song. It would have been an honor for my talent to be placed in the top 3 but so is life. As I said all of the talents were great. Hopefully we can have this experience again.

Today was the first talent show ever to be done here in Castro. All the people that showed their talent were pretty good but the thing that made me crack up the most was the last talent. They rapped “Pants on the Ground.” Even though I thought that the jerking people were going to win but they didn’t, who knows why? It was cool how the cheerleaders started it off. Michael Neri came in third place, Jordan’s team came in second, and Crystal came in first. The talent show was good it was cool to get out of class for like 45 minutes. I thought that all of the people were very brave today. They had to face that big crowd.

After the other performance, another student played a guitar and it was great.

And then, another girl was also singing a song that was really cool.

Playing the saxophone and it was also great that he was playing the saxophone.
Then, the other student was telling a poem and the poem was so sweet.
This year’s talent show was the best in Castro middle school.

We just came back from the eighth grade talent show. It was tremendously exciting. Everyone was extremely talented but I felt some were better than others. For example Wendy and her friends was great but her act would have been with just Wendy but that is just how I feel. Another thing Crystal was amazing don’t get me wrong but I thought someone else should have gotten first place. I thought that Wendy should have gotten first place because people could hear her better than Crystal. My favorite act was Jordyn and others dancing, singing, and beat boxing to “Pants On The Ground.” I don’t think they were the best but their performance was hilarious. Finally, I just wanted to say I am excited we had the talent show it was fun to get out of class to have a little fun and THANK YOU Ms. Farley for working so hard on putting it all together. On February 26, 2010 we had a talent show. The talent show was kind of funny in the end but most of it was actually boring. I think that Jordan, Kevin, and Devontay should of gotten the first place because they made a great job and they were funny it was extremely awesome with them. The thing is that for me it was boring because I was alone and I wanted to be with my friends. What I didn’t like about the talent show it was that I couldn’t hear when the students were playing the instrument or when they were singing. Well, the good thing is that I have a little bit of fun.

Today Friday 26th there was an assembly at Castro Middle School. It was about a talent a lot of people from our school tried out. The kids who tried did a lot of different stuff some played an instrument, some danced, and other singed. The school cheerleaders also dance and cheered for our school. It was fun to go to the talent show. The talent was about an hour or so. At the end of the talent show the teacher announced who had won 3rd, 2nd and 1st place.

Today we went to the gym and saw the talent show this boy went up and read poetry. I told my friend that “Next year in freshman I’m going up and reading poetry.” He said “yeah” an I said “Yup that’ll get you girls ha-ha” but yeah his poetry was really good like he should have been in the top 3. John went up an it was ok I don’t really like tuba things. But the cheerleaders were really good when those two girls sang and Shermanie was really good it was the best singing I feel of the day. Also Brian, José and those other guys were jerking they were good like in a jerking contest but not in a talent show. Devoneta Jordan and Kevin sang that one song pants on the ground its was good but more funny than talent. Crystal won the contest one off the better singers at the talent show I feel the list should have went like this though shermanie crystal then the cheerleaders but it’s ok people have there different opinions an I respect that.
