Assembly on Friday

Last Friday, we had an assembly that left many people emotional. A quest speaker, Calvin Terrell, came and talked about that we all had to be warriors. Most people have changed since then and are making things better. He was a really powerful speaker and even left us in tears. The part i thought was most moving was when he made us experience a story in our mind about us going to the state fair with the people we most love. After that, i was scared to go to the state fair and to think that that can really happen. Anyways, he was a really good speaker and made us become warriors. It was great to have him come to our school.

Friday's Assembly!!!

Last Friday was a very emotional day for us students here at Castro. Castro's speaker was Calvin Terrell. Mr Terrell is an eye-opening speaker that had everyone crying! Terrell made everyone notice how bad people fell when they are being bullied. Terrell also made some very realistic and imaginable stories that are unbelievable but also true. Calvin Terrell also made a really good point out of racism. Many people thanked Terrell at the end and realized how hurtful they can be.

Well last Fridays assembly was an emotional event for the eighth grade. The words Calvin Terrell spoke made many tear up and realize how ignorant people around the world are becoming, and in our campus as well. He expanded our thoughts in a way no one expected, and in doing that he made us see things through a different perspective. We saw a side of our staff and peers we had never seen before and ever since that day Raul H. Castro Middle School changed forever.

We had a dance at Castro it was really fun,also there was a lot of people at the dance.People really enjoyed the dance,because they had a chance to dance with other people and with their friends.And if you didnt go the first time i suggest you go to the next dance.

Most of the school clubs and try outs are almost filled and done.

In a few weeks we will have a football team cheer team ETC. The clubs will have many people staying after school until 5 Pm. The Why try club to help people in life. Art club. Everyone likes to paint and go wild with a brush. Board games club. Every one likes to go old school when it comes to playing games. Drama club. They make and put up plays for the school. History through movies. It's just siting back and watching movies.

CheerTryouts!

Cheer tryouts were going on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.The real tryouts were Wednesday.About 50 girls tried out but only about 20 got the spot.I got the spot and all the people I tried out with.Cheering is really fun once you are into it.You get to try new things.You can be a backspoter.Also you can be a flyer or the base the one that picks up the flyer.I was once myself a flyer but now i am going to be a base more likly.

Castro Events

Most of you probably know that there was a dance on October 27 2010 there were many people there even people who don't come to the school any more like Arely. So even the day after we had another event Calvin Terrell. But nothing compares what I'm about to tell you after school clubs have finally opened. Clubs for the Year..

Well Castro has new clubs which some students might be interested in. For example there's Chess club, Journal Club, Jazz band and many others. Now I might go in the History Through movies Club or art Club they both sound very interesting for me. In History through movies Club is about seeing movies and seeing how they teach us about the past. Now for art Club you basically just do art. Like using clay, strings, paint things like this. These are just some of these clubs you can go to, but if you want to join go to the office to get a paper to get into one or you can just ask your teacher.

The speaker Calvin Terrell left the many students emotional. Calvin Terrell told in his speech that no one should be a bully because it will affect that person a lot. He also told some realistic and emotional stories. Many students also decided to change who they were.

Cheer Tryouts !!!

On Monday-Wednesday were tryouts for cheer leading. It was fun to teach a lot of girls the cheers. We had a lot of girls try out and having to teach them 4 cheers wasn't so difficult. It was difficult knowing that most of the girls didn't have any experience and having to repeat yourself over and over again. We had fast learners which was easier. There were a lot of talented girls. Well all I have to say was that the team from last year had a lot of fun teaching the girls. Hope we win at least 3rd place this year.

Jacka** 3D

This movie is very funny and stupid. The movie has all the people from the MTV shows Jacka** and Viva la bam. We really enjoyed the movie. It was mostly funny but it was kind of stupid on some stunts. Our favorite part was when Steve-O was in the porta potty and they launched him in it. We interviewed fellow students that saw it, and they said they liked the movie and all the stunts they did were hilarious and they were really glad they spent their money on it.

Gabriel Iglesias is a comedian. Because of his heavy appearance Gabriel has called himself ‘’The Fluffy man’’. He performs observational comedy about people’s race and how it was growing up as a Hispanic in America. Gabriel is mostly known for high energy and cartoonish voices.
Gabriel Iglesias was born and raised in San Diego California. Gabriel began to perform in 1997 at the age of 21. Gabriel began to tape his first half hour in Comedy Central. It was presented in 2003. The name of the show was named ‘’Half-hour Special Of The Year’’ by the Comedy Central. In 2007 , his first hour-long stand-up special debuted on Comedy Central. The special was released as a DVD and went triple platinum. The name of that is ‘’Hot and Fluffy’’.
The style of Gabriel’s comedy is a mixture of story telling with character’s and sound effect that bring his issues in life. His ability to cross over with his clean animated style of comedy has made him a big demand in all markets.
Gabriel performs stand up nightly and makes appearances at school and more places. He goes and spreads the positive message of laughter. ‘’So what’s next?’’ someone asked. ‘’Dinner’’, he replied. There is just no stopping the kid with an appetite for success.
Gabriel is a really good comedian. If anyone would try to become a comedian you should study him and see what he does to make everyone laugh. Gabriel is a good comedian maybe one day I will be like him. I once watched one of his videos and he uses a lot of his voices. It would be cool if I could do that.

Soccer For Girls!

Soccer girls had their 4th victory against Western Valley!The score was 4-0 and 3 were scored by Tyesha and 1 by Mayra!They scored 0 goals on Yarizza and she had a lot of good saves!All of the team worked together and got the victory!The other team 2 lost and 4 won but now thanks to the girls soccer team its 3 lost and 4 won!!Girls soccer team has 3lost 4 won and 1 tied!Lets keep playing hard to be able to go to the playoffs!

Flag football tryouts

Flag football is coming up this week will be tryouts. See miss Dustin tomorrow after school for tryouts. Flag football you can only pull the flag and you can't tackle. If your flag is pulled your out if you throw the ball and it touches the ground you put it back.

Today was the first day of galileo. We just finished the reading galileo. In my opinion that test was a little easy. Tomorrow I think we have the math galileo. That's a good think because I love math. Most of the people think that math. On Wednseday I think we are having the writing galileo. Then in 2 weeks we are going to have fall break.

Our Castro halls have so many memories and soon to be passed to generation to generation. Some of us here in eight grade are going to be one of the first to go all through 6,7,and now 8 in Castro. Leaving Castro will mean to leave your past and move on to our future. Castro isn't always the best school but its the best community.

Karla and me have known each other for about 3 years now.We have been in each others class.We are now in the same class and now about to go to high school in a few months .We are good friends kinda like me and MaryJane.We all hang and we have fun together.We are all also in the same class.We do the stupidest things but not in class.The reason why is because Karla is really quiet.But when it comes to lunch WHOOOHOOO!!!!!!

Many of us students really like music i am really into music like one of my friends karen.r. she is realty into the type of music i like to listen to. We both like the same artists and the same songs!! we think that espinoza paz and noel torres are the best singers ever haha i really enjoy listening to their music its very cool and interesting sometimes well kinda its just something i like to listen too :].

Many students at castro middle school are BIG fans of soccer and soccer players starting with Relly Yarii Suzers aka suzy and mee hahahahaha we love soccer and soccer players i think it is nice that many students are involved in soccer and are very excited about soccer players. I think chicharito is a very good soccer player like memo ochoa and carlos vela i think soccer is awesome !!!

This year is going to be a great because football for
Castro is coming about in two weeks and me, Alex is
going to try out for football as QB. But the other people
like Evan, and Keith are going try out for football for QB.

Sports at Castro

At Castro we have a lot of sports. We have volleyball, basketball, soccer, and baseball. In the game of 9/20/10 the girls won the volleyball game. People are saying that's the fist game they won, but the girls are saying that was the second game. The boys lost their fist game. That really isn't cool. All though the boys lost they still have a good team, and so d the girls.

Castro'S life

There's alot of sports in Castro school right now. The girls soccer game won for the first time.The boys soccer game lost for the first time.But it's still good at least the boy's won the other games !!!!!! I really love being here at c a s t r o its so much fun but sometimes it could be really boring but i don't care at all . Everyone here respect the teachers and love the school campus . There are many things where you could join that's why CASTRO IS THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!

School Policy

The dress code for school is awesome but except when it comes to " sagging," Teachers trip on you if your pants/shorts are below the waist.But you shouldn't be with your pants all the way down right?so you better don't bring it to school okay.I mean like thats ugly we got to demonstrate our castro desent.

Soccer

Castro School has a lot of cool sports right now. Girls soccer won for the first time and boys soccer lost for the first time! It's OK because we still have more games to go! GO CASTRO COUGARS!

There many sports like: soccer, volleyball, cross country, and Track. Sport are not just for the win but to represent your school. Besties are people that will be next to you forever. Also you can
rely on them whenever with whatever. making friends is super easy
you can just walk up to them and start talking. Here at castro everyone
is nice and will be there for you no matter what. We will all be there for
you. So make new friends they'll be there for you.

Sports At Castro Middle School!!

Volleyball, Cross Country, and Soccer are the only sports that we have at Castro at this moment. The volleyball team has already played 3 volleyball games. All three games were against Estrella. 1 to 2(1 lose and 2 wins). Hopefully the Castro Cougars volleyball team will do good this year and win many games. Go Castro cougars lose or win its always fun to play.

Most of the Students here at Castro try their best to get good grades. Although what they really need is a Teachers Support. I see teachers all the time giving their support to kids and teaching them. Telling them They can do it they just have to practice. Nothing is impossible to learn and that's why I respect the Teachers here at Castro for supporting our Students.

Everyone in school hates school but not everyone.
People comes to school to learn and appreciate
the teacher what they are learning.Other just
comes and not do work and also miss around just
to show off to people.
My problem is that school is boring but I also
get my education.I try to do my work but is hard
because don't understand the meaning of it.My friend
just comes over to get in trouble like always but it
also funny in a good way.
If anyone gets a friend that does bad things well you
have to tell the teacher because is very imported because
we want to have the campus clean.Also when you see trash
please pick it up.Is to keep the campus clean cause everybody
wants everything clean.

While in school, we can't do exctally what we want, once we all get together we have a memorable time! We go to many places together & we don't care about anything. During our computer class we joke around, but still get our work done!(: No matter what we'll always be together!

The Castro announcements need help for the job you dont really have to be on the screen you can be behind the recorder and help to sign up you need to go to the office and ask the councilor and you can create announcements by getting a slip and its only for teachers.

Staying Active

Here at school, most people like to play sports. Sports are a healthy activity and are really fun to do. During lunch, many people play sports out in the fields.

However, in this hot weather, everyone needs to drink a lot of water. It gets really hot outside during the day. Playing in a sport is good exercise.

Some sports you can do outside during lunch or in the mornings are baseball, soccer, football,

volleyball, basketball, and other sports too.

FRIENDS

Making friends at Castro is easy . Students are very nice and we get along. All kids hear at castro are very respectful. We have many activities we have cheerleaders,student goverment,socceand many more coming. Our school is cool we can wear about what ever we wan't. But this school is a good place to make friends.

castro is a cool school because cool teachers clean school berly builde like three years ago it is big

school lunch.

i dont think school lunch is good it is a horrible thing to eat sometimes the food is all soggy and without a taste . . i think people should claim about the cafeteria lunches because they are disgusting !!! and without a taste sometimes we dont even know wat we are eating.

Castro's Teams

On Wednesday Sep 15 the boys Soccer team lost their Game for the first time. And the girls Soccer Team won their game for the FIRST Time. Girls Volleyball won for the first time.

The boys lost 2-1 v.s. Estrella. Girls Won 5-4 Against Estrella and Girls Volleyball won the third half 15-9. As we see the girls improved and guys just went DOWN!!!! To the easiest team ever!!!!!

But all teams are gonna kick butt next time they play. All I have to say to the teams is . . . Not to give up. Because they act as if they can't win, but I know they can so yeah i guess just try hard.

Castro basketball is coming around very quickly and teachers are hoping we will have a better team this year. They went 0-8 (zero wins and eight loses) there are only a few great players but I think we will do better this year. Wins come by teamwork, hard work, determination, and skill.!

So far at castro I have seen many students playing sports. It seems that the life at our school revolves around sports. this is a good thing. this year we will have some good teams. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

P.E.

Yesterday we went outside and we took some video of the P.E. class playing baseball. I was with my partner and we got some grate shots of them. They had some great plays and they are all on video. Ms dustin is on the video making a great play the ball is hit to her and she makes the play. It was one of the grates plays that day and we got it. There were also some bloopers and they were pretty funny. That's what went down that day and we got it on video.

Castro students are proud to be in this school .Especially because of our beautiful campus . And the teachers are nice.

On Monday we took pictures and recorded.It was are first
time taking it but we did kind of good we listen to the
teacher of not talking.I enjoyed it because we recorded
mostly funny parts with are team.We also so coach Dustin
playing with her class baseball.

Yesterday we recorded me and my partners.We recorded the
funny parts and when coach Dustin was playing a game with
some kids in 2 period in P.E. They were enjoying the fun
in baseball.We took pictures and recorded in Mr.Ultech
class,enjoy because it was like free time.

Everyone loves the computer because we learn about how to
use the computer and other electronic device.I wish I can
stay for another year but I'm going to high school in 9th
grade.I hope when I go to high school and use computer
just like Mr.Ultech.

It's the beginning of the school year and people think it's boring. Well me and my buddy Rubi are having a blast. Even with all of our other friends. 8th grade is pretty good. I'm having so much fun. It's my third year here at Castro middle school. This is a picture of Rubi and I in photogournalism class. Till this day we are always laughing and enjoying our times together. Good friends are in my class it actually sucks because my friend Kassandra is not in there with us. We still see eachother .But i'll be better if she was in my class. I'll enjoy my life with friends and family. I'm going to make this year better than ever.

Back to school

It's August and you know what that means? Back to school! As school starts 6th graders start playing a game of how to get to know each other.

The game goes that you have to say a fact about yourself and pass the rope to someone who does that to. The game goes on until everyone has a piece of the rope.

After everyone gets a piece of the rope they have to stand and try to untangle themselves. After that everyone must realize what they can do together.

when you or some one else chose gum it makes a hassle you might think it does not you might think its a pees of gum it not going to kill someone sow you throw it on the ground . it stays there for months some times years until they higher someone to blast it or spend hundreds of dollars spent just by chewing gum sow think before you chew gum because these hundred dollars might effect your learning .

This is my second year being here at c a s t r o and so far I like this school . In 6th grade i went to E s t r e l l a and i did not like it at all. There were fights every day . But here c a s t r o there's not only once in a while . We love to have fun and we respect the teachers thats what i love bout this school ! I love hanging out with my friends at all times like Ana , jessica , vanessa , and many more.... but it sucks cause i don't have them in any of my classes but the good thing is that this school has a beautiful campus where i could see my friends at lunch time . I like this school and I am looking foward to graduating

The Life Of The Castro Cougars

Hello there Castro Cougars. Everybody knows Castro is a wonderful and caring school even thou it's burning hot outside nothing stops us Cougars of doing our jobs.We are a hard working and respectful community. Our students are helpful and very smart. The teachers and the students always have time to listen to every body else that has problems or any other problems. For now these are some things of our school.

School at Castro was cool last year but this year they killed it.We have the same people every class.We don't have passing periods.Last year we did.But other than that Castro is a pretty good school.The classes are good most of the teachers are to.We have sports a big gym and We have field days after every big test we take.Last year we didn't have any field trips but hopefully we have some this year.

Have you ever tried out for a sport? Well here, we have many sports going on. Like boys soccer, girls soccer, cross country, and girls volleyball. Those are the sports that are going on right now. We’ll have many sports in the future. Kids at Castro love sports!

Torrential Rains!

Torrential rains. Officials report torrential rains and landslides have left at least 44 dead, 56 injured and 16 missing. On Monday, President Alvaro Colom has declared three days of national mourning. Around 11,500 residents have been evacuated and 9,000 have taken refuge in shelters, the nation’s disaster agency said. More than 43,000 people are at risk from the more possibility of harder rain., said to be the strongest in over 50 – 60 years. Over the weekend authorities closed part of the Inter- American Highway after rains washed out sections of the road and caused at least two accidents. The May downpours created a sink hole the size of a street intersection northern Guatemala City Residents said three story building and a house fell into the hole!

Back to School

It's the time for back to school. All the kids are happy to see their friends. The teachers are all getting ready. In this picture there are kids doing an activity. The kids were taking turns say things about them. Once they said something they get a piece of yarn. Then the kids would past the yarn around.

This is just one thing that students are doing. Everyone else is learning in class. If they are not outside the students are learning in class.

Castro Teachers

Today is music Wednesday, a day we get to listen to music but also finish our work. Today's assessment is to write 3 paragraphs - beginning, middle, end. Your paragraphs can be 3-5 sentences long For a story idea, chose a photo that you took yesterday or Thursday to write about. Or choose a completely different story. Well I am going to write about a picture I took Thursday. This picture shows very much emotions between the teacher and the students.

Our teachers here in Castro are helpful and they help with politeness and like they really like to help with out complaining. Like this picture shows Mr.Uttech helping Jesus on how to manage the video camera right. Also if you notice, Mr.Uttech doesn't seem mad about it, actually he seems happy. Mr.Uttech also didn't know we took this picture. That means it's not a posed photo.

Castro teacher's are probably the coolest ones in the district. I believe I've chosen the best school for my education to be valued like I value it myself. If you are thinking of moving into a school where you will mostly be taken care of and be wanted some where well that place is here in Raul H.Castro Middle School. I can surely guaranty you that.

I am writing about new principals and friends. I think that this year people are getting along more and that there are less lonely people. This year can be a good year if you make it one. Here at Castro Middle School everything can be a great place. There are so many things to do and there are very nice teachers, students, and principals.

Going back to school is a big step for a lot of us. Especially when you’re about to promote. Many take this serious while others don’t care about their future, education, or life. This is something that should matter to you A LOT! Education is a valuable thing that many didn’t have back in the slavery days, education is something that many people fought for. And what many people still want today.

Castro comes to an end.

In a little more than a month we will soon be promoting, and moving on to high school. We will be the first 8th graders to ever promote from Raul H. Castro. There will be a lot of conflicting emotions on our last day here. Some will be happy to move on, but others will be sad because they will miss their middle school friends and life. Most of the people here are both going to Trevor or Maryvale, and will not be with all of there friends.
